Postmates App Feature

Postmates is an app that allows the user to order delivery or pickup from more than 350,000 restaurants, retails shops, grocers, in metropolitan areas. It is one of the largest, most reliable on-demand delivery and pickup platforms. What feature can be added to enhance the customer experience?

Process
The first step in the Postmates app feature project was to take a deep dive into the app to identify and understand all the potential use cases, user journeys, and locate pain points. After gathering a solid idea of how the app is being used, I conducted user research to better understand the users needs. The survey results varied but shed some light on a user group that was feeling neglected.

“It would be helpful if I could search for places that are ‘safe’ for people with food issues. Most just use a keyword search right now and it doesn't provide anything helpful.”

Problem
The current app does not have a clear way to identify allergies in a way that makes the user feel safe. This is a great opportunity to gain user trust and live up the Postmates tagline:  Postmates is the largest, most reliable on-demand delivery and pickup platform.

Goal
To allow the user to update their dietary preferences and communicate those preferences to Postmates vendors.

Solution
Create a feature within the existing visual design language that allows the user to set dietary preferences in multiple stages of the user journey. To allow ease in turning on/off refined search, and to allow customization on individual menu items.
